SURGE'S 2017 ROUND UP

January 5th, 2018

It’s been a roller coaster of a year for the Surge team, with a huge office move, the recruitment of four new team members and successful digital marketing projects galore! There’s been plenty of excitement and we’ve even exceeded our own expectations. In short, we’ve had a great year full of fun and creativity and we’ve loved helping our clients achieve more from the web over the past 12 months.

How we’ve grown

The Surge team has grown throughout 2017 not only in size, but in terms of the skillset we offer. We’ve taken on a new Web Developer, two Marketing Consultants and an additional Content Writer, allowing us to offer a more comprehensive service to our clients. As a result of our rapid growth, we needed to upsize our office to accommodate the team. We moved into the new Surge HQ at Riverside Park Industrial Estate in April, and we love it here! It’s got plenty of space for each department, a creative area, two meeting rooms, a smart reception area, our own kitchen and even a pool table. It’s fair to say we’ve taken a big step up from our last office, which was around a third of the size of our current home on High Force Road.

Our feature developments

We’re always keen to take on new and exciting tasks that will benefit our clients, and this year we’ve taken bigger steps than ever before, from custom-built booking systems to employee management platforms to complex product organisers. Some of the client websites we’ve developed over the year include CorDEX, Lotsurf, Thrive, All England Gas and Fury Events. The fantastic digital marketing results we’ve achieved

We specialise in all aspects of digital marketing, so whether it’s the design of a new website or a Google AdWords campaign to drive relevant traffic to it, we’re here to help. As a team, we’re extremely proud of the results we’ve achieved throughout 2017. We’ve worked with a wide variety of clients, from nationally-recognised family entertainment centres to some of the UK’s leading lift companies, and we always work to achieve a result that is both successful and cost-effective. Here are some of our key achievements:

  • Managed successful Social Media campaigns for the Royal Armouries, both in Leeds and Fort Nelson

  • Made significant improvements in the rankings of focus keywords for Pickerings Lifts

  • Driven traffic to the Xscape website through social media, paid searches and organic Google searches, as well as offering technical support

  • Smashed MAIN’s target of achieving 4,000 Page Likes before Christmas by more than 500 Likes

  • Increased Eco-Trailer’s average amount of monthly enquiries from 3 to 30 through our SEO campaign

Doing our bit for charity

It’s always important to give back to charities that work tirelessly to help other people. This year, members of the Surge team have taken part in various charity events. Our Director, David, helped put on a charity golf day with his BNI chapter to raise money for MAIN. Their team helps families affected by autism and other challenging conditions. We have since built their website and started working alongside them on their Facebook account. Our Designers, Chloe and Mark, and our SEO specialist, Declan, took part in the Great North Run to raise funds for another of our clients who carry out amazing work, Willow Burn Hospice. They managed to collectively raise an amazing £952.50. Our Content Writer, Sophie, along with Chloe, completed the Colour Run in aid of Teesside Hospice in September and raised more than £100 for the charity.

We’re a Google Partner!

As digital marketing specialists, we’ve worked closely with Google for several years. However, this year, our Marketing Manager, Gemma, went the extra mile to ensure we’re recognised for the work we do. After completing several advanced certification exams, we are an official Google Partner. This means that anyone who works with us can be safe in the knowledge their account is being managed by people who keep up to date with the latest trends, as well as having access to training and regular contact with Google’s specialists.

Our seminar at the Family Attractions Expo in Birmingham

We were thrilled when David was asked not only to have a stand at the Family Attractions Expo in Birmingham in November, but to hold a seminar at it on all things digital marketing! Not only was the expo a huge success, but David’s seminar theatre was over-flowing with people keen to know more.
