December is fast approaching and if you want to make the most out of these wonderful festive weeks, you’d better get organised – pronto!
We’ve put together a handy list of ideas that you can easily implement to make sure this is your business’ most successful Christmas yet.
Offers for advent
Having a different offer or promotion for each day of advent is a lovely, festive idea that is bound to hold the interest of your customers every day leading up to Christmas. Perhaps you could offer a 10% discount, a free delivery code or a ‘three for two’ offer. The options are endless with this one, and if you choose to have a page on your website where each day’s offer is revealed, it is a fantastic way to drive traffic to your website as well.
Decorate your branding
Why not get into the Christmas spirit and make your visitors feel cheery with a little decoration on your social media logos or your website’s home page? It’s not too difficult to add some holly or a string of fairy lights to your images on Photoshop, and there are plenty of options to choose from if you want to temporarily jazz up your website. For example, if you have a WordPress website, there are various plugins you can use to add a Christmassy touch – see some of them here.
Make it personal
Nothing makes your customers feel valued like a personal message showing them your appreciation. If you have the time and ability to do so, why not include a little Christmas message with your orders addressed to each individual customer? You could even pop a little candy cane or a Christmas joke into their parcel to make it extra memorable. Your customers will love it and it’s guaranteed to get people talking and create a buzz about your business.
Plan a Christmas competition
Social media is full of contests and giveaways, and although they can sometimes clog up your newsfeed and get a bit annoying, they’re there for a reason: people love them! It is an increasingly popular method of brand awareness on social media, and hosting a Christmas giveaway through a ‘like and comment’ competition could be the perfect way to push your business this December. Just be sure to comply with Facebook’s strict rules and regulations on promoting a contest.
Target last-minute shoppers
There are so many people who leave their Christmas shopping later and later every year. You could make your products so much more appealing to them by offering speedy delivery and, if possible, free delivery. Finding your parcel has been delivered the day after you ordered it is a sign of fantastic customer service and it will make for a happy customer who will no doubt be returning to your business in the New Year.
Give something back
If you have certain loyal customers, there’s no time like Christmas to show them you care and give something back. Why not send out a voucher to your regulars in December entitling them to so much off their first purchase in 2017? Even if you gave them exclusive access to your sale items or a small free gift to kick off the year, they’ll know they’re appreciated and continue to come back in the future. It is the season of giving, after all.
Support a charity
If there’s ever a time to support a charity, Christmas is it. Showing a little compassion can go a long way when it comes to business. You could stock and send some charity Christmas cards, make a donation to an organisation in need or maybe even put on a Christmas fundraising event. Helping a charity will in turn help you, increasing your brand awareness and showing you’re a hard-working and generous company.
Send a huge ‘Merry Christmas!’
We’ll be the first to admit that we wouldn’t want to spend Christmas Day sat around the dinner table scrolling through social media pages on our phones. However, you’ve got to keep in mind that tablets, laptops and new phones are extremely popular gifts these days. If people happen to click onto Facebook or Twitter when they’re trying out their new devices this Christmas, wouldn’t it be nice for them to see a message of well wishes from your business? Be sure to schedule in a cheerful post for Christmas Day – and don’t forget to put your feet up and enjoy yourself too!
